How to Make Your Headlines More Tempting Than a Cinnabon

Coming up with a great headline is one of the hardest things about writing. You need to be able to grab the attention of people, make them trust you, and convince them to click-through to your page.

It’s not easy. It requires capitalizing on things like humor, emotion, fear of missing out (FOMO), education, opportunity, and so much more.

To help brainstorm this process Portent,  Inc. developed a fun (and free) tool that automatically generates new content and headline ideas.

And of course I used it for the title of THIS post!

A few rules for using the headline generation tool:

  • Don’t capitalize keywords (except proper nouns)
  • Use the singular version of your keyword
  • Revise the result to create your own fantastic (grammatically correct) headline

It’s funny when Ralph Wiggum invents his own grammar, but most of us aren’t nearly that special.
